Region 12 Championships May 2-7, 2016

Prize List

OTHER REGION 12 NEWS
Here is a recap of some the changes and additions to our show this year:
  • The dates of our show are May 2-7, 2016.  The prize list will be available online shortly.
  • Our judges in Reeves will be Richard Petty, LaRae Fletcher Powell and Cathy Murphy Economy. Our judges in Sutherland will be Carol Bishop, Charlotte Trentelman, Fatima Kranz, Paddy Nyegard, and Meg Rhodes.  We will run two Dressage rings on Wednesday and two triangles for SHIH on Thursday and Friday so that the Sutherland classes won’t run late on those days!
  • In addition to our regularly scheduled classes, the show committee added a total of twelve Egyptian halter classes.  We will have six classes for Straight and six for Heritage; fillies and colts; 2 year and under, 3-5 year olds, and 6 and over.  The response has been very enthusiastic!  They will be held on Wednesday afternoon while the reining takes place outside. Petty and Murphy-Economy will judge these classes individually.
  • We will have a Wine and Cheese party on Wednesday night both in Reeves and Sutherland to promote our vendors, sponsored by Markel Insurance.
  • The Exhibitors’ party will be held again in conjunction with the Spotlight Futurity following their Auction on Thursday night.  Because they were so popular, we hired the same band we had last year!  Thursday is May 5th so the Futurity Committee selected a “Cinco de Mayo” theme.
  • The Second Annual Chili Cook Off is scheduled for Friday afternoon. Bring your Crock Pots!  $1000 in Prizes! Blind tasting and judged again by local Perry officials.
  • We will present the Colors again on Friday night to honor our Military and plan to invite Military families to join us Friday and Saturday.
  • Hennessy Arabians will host an “Introduction to the Arabian Horse” event for visitors on Friday and Saturday.  Thank you Frank and George Z for sponsoring this and offering your time!
  • Christine Johnson of Iron Horse Farm will host a Grooming Clinic for youth and visitors on Saturday so locals can have a “hands on” experience while there. She is also providing goodie bags for attendees.
  • Suzanne Economopolous (our local Atlanta artist who drew the wonderful images on our Patron planters last year) is offering an “Equine Art School” for children age 6-13 at her booth on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Kids can learn how to draw our beautiful horses!
  • We have a new volunteer for community outreach.  Priscilla McGammon is working with the Chamber and the CVB in Perry. We want to get the word out about our show and the many reasons why our show is perfect family entertainment that week of May.
As you can see, we have a lot going on!  We will keep you informed as our plans develop further.  If any of you are interested in volunteering while at the show, we need your help!  Contact me or any one on the show committee and we’ll sign you up!
