The Region 12 Off Site 50 mile Endurance Championship was held in the beautiful hills of Talladega, Alabama in early October. The championships were held in conjunction with the Yellowhammer Pioneer rides managed by Tamra and Joe Schoech. It was a very popular event with a total of 17 Arabians and Half-Arabians starting the AHA Championship ride.

After a race off at the finish, in 5 hours and 14 minutes, EH Ahmose ridden by Claire Godwin emerged as the R12 Champion Arabian. The Reserve Champion was owned and ridden by Bonnie Hannah on Rezus Respite in 5 hours, 28 minutes. Top Five honors were also earned by Becky Bunnell on BR Jubaleigh (5:55). Alicia Mansuetti on Petrolons Star (6:22), and Wesley Crowe on Koweta Bentley (6:24). Eight of the thirteen starting Arabians completed the ride. Claire Godwin and EH Ahmose earned the coveted Best Condition award for the Arabian division.

The Champion Half Arabian Syvillas Jabar with a time of 6:26 was ridden by owner Betsey Knight from Tennessee and the Reserve Champion and Best Condition Half Arabian Belteshazzar (7:01) was owned and ridden by Amy Whelen of Kentucky. All of these horse and rider combinations faced tough trail challenges. All four Half-Arabians completed the ride.
