A Message from Aubrey McCall

Dear Region XII Members,
Hi everyone, my name is Aubrey McCall and I’m this year’s AHYA Vice Director. I’m from Federal Point, Florida, and I am currently riding at Carol Davis Equestrian in St. Augustine, Florida. I am attending The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida and I am in the tenth grade. I have been riding since I was four years old. I got my first horse when I was ten, and he was a thoroughbred, named Bay Ronto. Bay Ronto and I began showing in hunt seat and hunter jumper, but I never truly enjoyed that discipline. So when I was about thirteen my trainer suggested to me that I should try riding her Arabian, TX Special Edition , in dressage, sport horse, and western pleasure. TX Special Edition (GS Khochise + Rojo Chaka Khan) is a Polish/Egyptian Arabian. I instantly fell in love with him, and I gained great confidence from riding him. He has taught me so much.
This transition to dressage brought me to begin competing in the North Florida Dressage Association (NFDA) shows. I ride in level one test three and level one test four on TX Special Edition. Not only do I ride my Arabian in dressage, I also ride a mustang, named Kobi Juan Kenobi. Kobi and I compete in training level test four and level one test one. This spring was the first time I attended a Class “A” show in New Berry, Florida. Then I went on to Regionals in Perry, Georgia. Where I rode in training level test four against five others, and received a 63.20, placing me as Reserve Champion. I am also currently riding another Arabian; named Johnny Boucco (Boucco Too + Aer Czamtika) in western pleasure, sport horse, and dressage. My goal this year is to compete with both Arabians at youth nationals. I am very excited that I have been given the chance to be this year’s Vice Director! With everyone’s help I know we can think of great ideas for our organization!
Thanks,
Aubrey McCall
